Loni Pont,  Well trained and versatile singer-songwriter from New York, offers subdued acoustic folk rock in "Pieces" (Planet She Music), her socond CD. The CD consists of eight quiet songs, all written by her, in which the lyrics take center stage. Well-thought-out lyrics about love are blended with fairly angry lines about pain and spiritual searching. The sound is varied, and the styles alternate freely when Pont is in the company of skilled musicians playing, among other things, piano and guitar. Overall, this CD has warm and genuine appeal, particularly the title song, "Pieces," which is the CD's high point.
